The Blessing Box
The Blessing Box Project is run by the non-profit Love Placentia in conjunction with the City of Placentia. There are five boxes throughout the city where people can donate non-perishable food, and residents in need can then take from what is donated. One Blessing Box is located at the north side of Kraemer Park, near the community center. Canyon Vineyard has decided to support this effort in the coming months as part of their outreach efforts in the community.
To start, our effort will be informal, and anyone is encouraged to add non-perishable food directly to the Kraemer Park Blessing Box. If you are meeting others from Canyon Vineyard at the park, this would be an excellent time to take something along to contribute. You may see other things left in the box, but the City asks that only non-perishable foods be left for safety reasons. A volunteer comes by once a week to clean out and organize the box. Also, please be safe, and only go to the park along with a companion during daylight hours. We are considering organizing a way to collect non-perishable food donations at Sunday worship services and transporting them to the park, but we need volunteers to help with this. Please email Lisa Green at mrslgreen@hotmail.com if you are interested or have questions. Thank you!
