Vineyard Compassion

Serve & Volunteer

John Wimber once said that the purpose of the Vineyard is characterized by its commitment to worship and as well as its compassion for those in poverty. As disciples of Christ we are deeply committed to helping our neighbors in Orange County rise above their circumstances and realize a future of hope, dignity, and fulfillment. Join us as we partner with local food banks, Mary’s Kitchen, and the Hub OC to serve, to minister, and provide food to our local community.

The Hub

The HUB partners with other communities and organizations to bring holistic hope, healing, and freedom to individuals, families, and communities by meeting the physical, relational, emotional needs of Orange County residents.

Local projects include providing food and clothing to emancipated foster youth and Youth Centers of  Orange families.

Mary’s Kitchen, acknowledges the Christian principles upon which it was founded including compassion and respect for human dignity, through volunteers, meals, clothing drives and providing services that support and enhance the quality of life for the hungry and homeless who rely on them.

In 2021, Mary’s Kitchen provided over 59,000 meals, laundry, mail, and gas services to thousands of Orange County residents.Every Thursday, Mary’s Kitchen distributes donated clothing to those they serve.  We are now a mobile food pantry, that will distribute food at Anaheim Marketplace every Thursday from 10 AM – 12 PM! Daily, their committed cooks prepare nutritional meals both breakfast and lunch for approximately 200 people on a given day.https://www.maryskitchen.org/

The Blessings Box

The Blessing Box Project is run by the non-profit Love Placentia in conjunction with the City of Placentia. There are five boxes throughout the city where people can donate non-perishable food, and residents in need can then take from what is donated. One Blessing Box is located at the north side of Kraemer Park, near the community center.  Canyon Vineyard has decided to support this effort in the coming months as part of their outreach efforts in the community.

To start, our effort will be informal, and anyone is encouraged to add non-perishable food directly to the Kraemer Park Blessing Box. If you are meeting others from Canyon Vineyard at the park, this would be an excellent time to take something along to contribute. You may see other things left in the box, but the City asks that only non-perishable foods be left for safety reasons. A volunteer comes by once a week to clean out and organize the box.

Also, please be safe, and only go to the park along with a companion during daylight hours. We are considering organizing a way to collect non-perishable food donations at Sunday worship services and transporting them to the park, but we need volunteers to help with this. Please email Lisa Green at mrslgreen@hotmail.com if you are interested or have questions.  Thank you!
